Matthew 6:5-6 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father in secret shall reward thee openly.

Yes, its not "cool" to parade around with Christ these days, is it? We're too intellectual and chic. My heart goes out to the priests and all those who in their love and faith stand next to the Lord give themselves to make Him known in every corner of the world.

I will certainly not stop watching EWTN and supporting those institutions faithful to God and His Church. I suppose you know better than the great many Bishops, Priests and Saints of the past who have taken part in Eucharistic procession in the streets of their towns, cities, and villages... I am proud of these men, and embarassed at your posting: a Catholic to claims to know how the Church should practice... even better than Saints, Priests, and Bishops of the past and present

You are truly lacking in your understanding of the Faith. Jesus is present in the Eucharist Sacramentally and in a greater way than any other we can have this side of heaven. Read the Fathers of the Church, read the catechism, and if you don't accept these teachings... My question for you would be: Why do you put your own opinions and personal beliefs above Holy Mother Church? Are you a Protestant?

He is not present in the same way. Go back and read the catechism on transubstantiation. I repeat, the principle role of the priest is the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. There he brings down graces from heaven for the whole world. He's not a social worker. We have Bono and friends for that. This is perennial teaching, you know. (And the only time I'm embarrassed of *churchMEN* is when they turn their backs on Christ's teaching and sell out their flock for fuzzy Protestant ideas.)

Why yes I did. And I also know that christ is truly present in people and in the world. There's absolutely nothing wrong with adoration, exposition, but it is NOT the principle role of the priest, and certainly (as a pious devotion) not the most important thing we do as Catholics. Stop watching EWTN. This video is militaristic. You should be embarassed for the church. I am.

Uh, john, I think you're confusing the Red Cross with the priesthood. The priest's principle role is to offer sacrifice at Holy Mass. After that, it is to bring people to Jesus Christ, and therefore to save souls so that they can be with God in the *next* life. Did you know that Jesus is truly present in the Blessed Sacrament?

I agree with Tenomo and love Pope JPII's comments ("Do not be afraid to go out onto the streets like the Apostles who preached Christ and the good news of Salvation). Carrying the Eucharist through NYC is just what some of those streets need! I'm sure those priests (who spend most of their time and energy doing their more principle roles of teaching, counseling, feeding the poor, administering the Sacraments, etc.) know that Jesus is already with the poor there...
